The Team The Legal team supports Datadog's rapid growth by providing a wide range of legal services across a highly dynamic technology company, from driving new business via contracts and compliance efforts to protecting Datadog's offerings. The Commercial & Alliances Legal team focuses on all commercial engagements, channel & alliances agreements and related legal topics. Opportunity Support the organization on various legal‑related matters. Negotiate revenue‑generating contracts for our customers in the EMEA region, in direct and/or indirect models through channel & alliances agreements. This customer‑facing role will involve close collaboration with cross‑functional teams such as sales, deal desk, privacy, customer trust, procurement, and product legal, serving as a trusted advisor known for providing strong solutions and practical advice. What You’ll Do Independently review and negotiate complex customer subscription agreements and ancillary documents, including DPAs, Financial Services Addendums and BAAs, as well as Channel engagements. Applies strong independent judgment to adapt guidance, address novel issues, and escalates only high‑impact or atypical matters. Partner with a seasoned legal team to provide practical and decisive guidance to internal teams. Proactively develop relationships with relevant internal/external business stakeholders. Guide and coach Sales teams and other stakeholders by bringing deep commercial expertise to complex deal strategy, challenging ineffective approaches, influencing deal structure to align with both legal and business objectives, and providing high‑quality training to stakeholders where relevant. Stay current on industry, commercial, intellectual property, open source, privacy, and other EMEA laws and regulations to provide effective advice. Support the ongoing improvement of our contract templates in line with emerging laws and regulations across EMEA. Anticipate relevant upcoming legal and regulatory changes in EMEA and contribute to the update of our internal policies & positions. Advise on compliance issues in the region and lead or contribute to related cross‑functional projects. Collaborate with other teams within Legal and across the company, including Deal Desk, to support Datadog’s acceleration of revenue generation and reduction of risk. Mentor junior team members by sharing subject matter expertise, providing feedback on negotiation strategy and execution, and modeling strong independent judgment in legal and business decision‑making. Who You Are Qualified attorney with approximately 7+ years of legal experience reviewing, redlining, and actively negotiating commercial agreements, including 5+ years in SaaS transactions or the IT sector, and ideally 2+ years working in an IT law firm. Fluent in both English and another EMEA language, with excellent communication skills in both languages. Familiar with technology, privacy, and intellectual property laws, with experience facing customers in complex technology negotiations. High integrity and strong judgment, with the ability to articulate well‑reasoned points of view. Well‑organized, process‑oriented, and adept at recognizing when matters need escalation within the legal team or when guidance is required. Enjoys supporting, collaborating with, and educating colleagues. Excited to drive contracts to closure and comfortable partnering with clients in sales, prioritizing multiple deals simultaneously while supporting tight deadlines. Able to work from our vibrant offices in Paris. Willing to constantly grow, adapt, and evolve, including learning from feedback, increasing confidence, and showing readiness for more complex responsibilities.
