Associate professor in Computer Science specialized in Software Engineering and Eco-design IMT Atlantique internationally recognized for the quality of its research, is a leading technological university under the authority of the Ministry of Industry and Digital Technologies, ranked in the three main international rankings (THE, SHANGHAI, QS). The position is open on the campus of Brest within the Computer Science department (32 permanent staff, including 27 academic staff), with planned integration into the P4S team (https://labsticc.fr/fr/equipes/p4s) of the Lab-STICC laboratory (https://labsticc.fr). The P4S team focuses its research activities on methods, models, and tools for building and verifying safe and secure systems and software. The team prioritizes the application of these proposals in areas such as Cybersecurity and digital twins. Thematic and research challenges We are looking for a PhD in computer science specializing in software engineering. The candidate will be required to conduct research in software engineering applied to the field of Eco-design. More specifically, the candidate will conduct research within the P4S team on methods and tools to better integrate energy efficiency issues into the design, construction, and maintenance of software. In this context, the candidate may, for example, develop work on (1) aspects of architecture and modeling, taking into account energy consumption, carbon impact, and sustainability measurements, (2) verification of constraints on these same impacts, (3) compilation issues aimed at producing economical binaries, (4) reduction of the environmental impacts of software operation (DevSecOps), or (5) algorithms for software energy efficiency. He/she will be required to initiate a research focus on Eco-design while linking it to the team's existing activities, such as those related to digital twins or Cybersecurity. Education Located on 3 attractive campuses, IMT Atlantique boasts a strong international dynamic while remaining on a human scale. In its various education programs conferring a Master degree (engineering and masters), students are confronted with real-life problem situations through a variety of pedagogical approaches. Involved both in the core curriculum and in the elective courses, the recruited person will contribute both to their Computer Science and Software Engineering specialty and to cross-disciplinary, interdisciplinary activities or those linked to companies: tutoring of projects/internships, oral presentations, coaching, etc. They will be invited to propose new projects, programs and related teaching methodologies, particularly inspired and supported by industrial requirements and partnerships. https://www.imt-atlantique.fr/en/study Collective responsibility and involvement in economic development Particular attention will be focused on the candidate's ability to get involved in the collective life of the school: contributing to, or piloting, cross-disciplinary projects (e.g. on ecological transition), taking on responsibilities (training programs, research projects, teaching or research teams) or participating in bodies such as the teaching committee, school council, social administration committee. In addition, in an environment of privileged relations with major national and international industrial partners, as well as a dense network of SMEs and start-ups, the hired faculty member will contribute to the school's reputation and economic development, particularly through the valorization of they work by patenting or technology transfer.
