Head of Software Engineering Eurofins Scientific is an international life sciences company providing analytical testing services that support life and the environment. In this role you will lead multiple engineering teams to deliver high‑quality software that aligns with business goals. Job Description The Head of Software Engineering leads all engineering teams—software architects, developers, and testers—ensuring technical delivery in time and quality, aligning with business objectives, and managing hiring, standards, and architecture. The position blends technical leadership with people leadership, guiding long‑term platform evolution and driving delivery excellence across multiple projects. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with product, design, and operations to align engineering priorities with business strategy, client needs, and regulatory requirements. Manage and mentor technical leads, architects, engineers, and testers, fostering a culture of ownership, results, and innovation. Define and enforce software development standards, including coding conventions, CI/CD pipelines, testing strategy, and test coverage. Oversee technical architecture and long‑term platform evolution, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability. Lead hiring, performance management, team growth, and resource planning. Set and monitor goals for delivery timelines, quality benchmarks, and system reliability. Design efficient production monitoring, alerting, and end‑to‑end pipelines using state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure. Facilitate engineering ceremonies—retrospectives, sprint planning, and cross‑team coordination—and report progress to leadership. Performance Metrics Code quality: defect density, leakage rate, and test coverage. Team and individual productivity and velocity. Lead time from specification to production. Auditability of delivery processes and risk mitigation. Technologies Involved .NET, C#, MVC, WCF, REST, WebAPI Angular and related front‑end frameworks Azure DevOps / GitHub Enterprise, SonarQube, Artifactory Unit testing frameworks: NUnit, MsTest SOLID principles and design patterns AWS or Microsoft Azure hosting UML, OOP, SOA, microservices, multi‑tier architectures Qualifications Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. 8+ years of experience in software engineering and team leadership. Experience managing large teams of 100+ people. Proven ability to scale engineering teams and processes, especially in distributed, remote environments. Deep understanding of IT architectures and design patterns gained at scale. Experience with multi‑tenant architectures, versioning strategies, and client‑specific customization. Ability to align technical delivery with product and business goals, engaging with product management and operations. Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or Value Stream Mapping for process improvement. Budgeting, hiring, and resource planning skills. Proficiency in code reviews, tooling selection, and QA standards. Experience in engineering transformation, process reengineering, or technical debt reduction. Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and cross‑functional collaboration.
