Secondary Math Teacher – 25-26 School Year JobID: 3466 | Date Posted: 3/11/2025 | Location: Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School | Date Available: 08/01/2025 Position Title Regular Education Classroom Teacher – Reports to Site Administrator – Minimum 185 days/year – Salary Range: Licensed Personnel Salary Schedule $50,033 - $90,212 – Benefits: Nevada State Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) – Employer paid Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance – FLSA Status: Exempt Summary of Position Under the direction of site administration, performs professional instructional work of moderate difficulty in guiding students toward gaining knowledge and skills to become productive citizens. Creates a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth, establishes effective rapport with students, motivates students to develop skills and attitudes, and establishes positive relationships with parents and other school and district staff members. Responsibilities and Essential Functions Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times.> Guide the learning process toward district curriculum goals, establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects. Create a conducive classroom environment, translating lesson plans into learning experiences and providing written evidence of preparation upon request. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media appropriate to the location and each student’s needs. Implement district philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations as outlined in the Teacher Evaluation System. Identify differences in student needs, abilities, and interests, providing appropriate instruction to meet those differences. Use a variety of classroom assessment techniques to determine instructional needs, assess accomplishments, provide progress reports, and communicate with parents as needed. Administer group standardized and proficiency tests in accordance with district testing programs. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy. Take precautions to protect students and maintain equipment, materials, and facilities. Develop and enforce a code of conduct and classroom rules consistent with administrative policies. Be available to students and parents during the scheduled workday when required. Plan and participate in professional improvement activities and attend in-service training, conferences, and other development opportunities. Maintain open, two‑way communication with parents, students, and staff in a positive and constructive manner. Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides, volunteers, and student teachers, providing written evaluations as required. Supervise students in out‑of‑classroom activities and sponsor student activities as appropriate to the grade level. Fulfill punctuality, reliability, and responsibility requirements per district policies. Cooperate with fellow staff to resolve student health, attitude, and learning problems. Attend building and district meetings to promote communication and mutual decision‑making. Serve on district committees that develop curriculum and enhance instruction. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Considerable knowledge of effective teaching techniques, student learning strategies, lesson planning, instructional media, classroom assessment, interpersonal communication, and child development stages. Skill To Perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with periodic skill upgrades to meet changing job conditions. Specific competencies include safety practices, operating classroom equipment and computers, planning and managing projects, maintaining accurate records, and using software applications. Ability To Develop lessons, units, and projects aligned with State Academic Content Standards and district goals. Meet and instruct assigned classes. Work independently and manage multiple priorities. Assess student accomplishments. Develop fair and appropriate classroom management techniques. Supervise assignments for aides, volunteers, and student teachers. Model good instructional, coaching, and mentoring practices. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Maintain accurate, complete records as required by law. Operate or learn to operate a microcomputer and related technologies. Display enthusiasm and commitment to the teaching profession. Schedule activities, meetings, and events. Gather, collate, and classify data. Analyze data using defined processes. Work with a diversity of individuals and groups. Exercise confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, and independent judgment. Follow established policies and procedures. Contribute to building a positive team spirit. Multitask and work with students, staff, and the public. Solve practical problems with limited standardization. Communicate clearly, accurately, and appropriately with students, teachers, parents, and community members. Meet deadlines and exercise good judgment in a dynamic environment. Handle stress and interact with others appropriately. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality. Supervision Exercised None Conditions of Work Work in climate‑controlled office settings to outdoor weather ranging from mild to extreme. May involve moderate to very loud noise, crowded environments, and exposure to office/classroom furniture, playground equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals (related to specific assignment), and power or hand‑operated equipment. Safety Sensitive YES Acceptable Experience and Training Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field, or equivalent experience and training providing necessary knowledge and skills. Licenses / Certificates Valid Nevada Teaching Certificate – Elementary or Secondary with sufficient coursework in major/minor field(s) of specialization. Physical and Mental/Intellectual Requirements Strength, dexterity, coordination, and vision to use keyboard and video terminal for prolonged periods. Stamina to bend, stoop, sit, and stand for long periods; handle files and small objects; lift occasional light loads up to 25–40 lb. Manual dexterity and cognitive ability to operate a personal computer and educational technology. Hearing and speech to communicate. Compliance with disability laws; accommodations available.
