With more than 5 million users and operating in over 10,000 merchants worldwide, Joko is now expanding internationally, primarily into the U.S. Job Description We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a new team of exceptionally talented software engineers. This leadership role focuses on cutting‑edge technical projects—including mobile development, AI/ML, infrastructure, and real‑time data processing—while shaping our engineering culture and organization. What you will do As Engineering Manager you will: Recruit and attract top engineering talent. Onboard new hires to ensure a smooth start and rapid productivity. Drive professional growth for your team through mentorship and career development. Provide technical leadership by reviewing work, guiding decision‑making, and balancing hands‑on contributions with team management. Foster cross‑team collaboration and maintain seamless communication across the tech organization. Contribute to product prioritization and strategic discussions with the Product Team. Continuously improve engineering processes for efficiency and effectiveness. Occasionally perform hands‑on tasks such as automations, proofs of concept, or bug fixes. Strong track record in a top‑tier company, project, or open‑source contribution. Advanced technical expertise in software architecture and design. Hands‑on builder mindset; comfortable tackling high‑impact projects. Full‑stack perspective with inclusive language skills. Fast learner, analytical problem solver, and effective communicator. Fluent in English (French not required). Recruitment Process Intro call: quick screening with a hiring manager or recruiter. Team interview (45 min): conversation with two Joko team members. Role‑specific assessments: Live coding interview. Take‑home case study with a 45 min debrief. Founders interview (45 min): conversation with two founders. Reference checks (up to five calls with former colleagues or managers).
