This role sits firmly in the second category 👇 We are supporting a global infrared imaging company headquartered in Grenoble, working at the cutting edge of cooled and uncooled IR sensor technology. Their products are used in high-reliability, mission-critical environments where performance, consistency, and technical credibility genuinely matter. This is not a junior applications role and it is not a sales job with a technical title. It is a Field Application Engineer position for someone who enjoys being close to customers, deep in the technology, and instrumental in turning evaluations into long-term design wins. Why this role exists The current FAE has moved internally into sales. The business wants to maintain, and improve, the technical depth of customer engagement while shortening complex sales cycles. This hire plays a central role in making that happen. What you would actually be doing ✅ Acting as the technical interface between customers and internal R&D and product teams ✅ Supporting integrators from first evaluation through integration and design-in ✅ Delivering high-quality technical demonstrations and application support ✅ Managing and prioritising customer technical requests across multiple programmes ✅ Providing structured feedback from the field to influence product direction ✅ Helping customers understand where the technology truly differentiates, not just on paper This role is hands on, customer facing, and technically demanding. You will be trusted to represent the company at a very high level. What tends to work well here 💎 Strong experience as a Field Application Engineer or customer-facing Applications Engineer 💎A solid technical foundation in electro-optics, infrared imaging, sensors, or related photonics technologies 💎Experience supporting defence, automotive, aerospace, or industrial customers 💎Clear, confident communication in English (French is a strong advantage) 💎Willingness to travel around 30% (mainly Europe) Due to the nature of the work, French nationality or dual nationality is required.
