Deputy Secretary General/Head of EIB Group Permanent Representative’s Office in Brussels/BelgiumThe EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Secretariat General Directorate (SG), located in the EIB Permanent Representative’s Office in Brussels/Belgium, a Deputy Secretary General/Head of EIB Group Permanent Representative’s Office.This is a full-time temporary position at grade 9 in Brussels/Belgium.The appointment is for a term of 5 years. The EIB offers fixed-term contracts of up to a maximum of 6 years, with a possibility to convert to a permanent contract, subject to organizational requirements and individual performance.Assessment centres are anticipated for the second half of June 2025. Panel interviews are anticipated for July 2025.PurposeThe position will support the Secretary General in leading the EIB Group’s Permanent Representative’s Office in Brussels, overseeing departments related to economic analysis and EIB Group strategy. The role involves managing staff, providing leadership, strategic coordination, and ensuring high-level representation of the EIB Group in Brussels, fostering communication with EU institutions and aligning strategies.ResponsibilitiesLead, motivate, develop, and manage staff within your responsibility, ensuring competencies and resources are adequate.Develop strategic orientations for the EIB Group, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, especially EU institutions.Maintain and enhance relationships with EU Institutions in Brussels, supporting management and ensuring effective communication.Ensure the development and implementation of strategic priorities aligned with EU policies.Manage institutional relations and high-level interactions with stakeholders, especially the European Commission.Develop strategies for different business areas, coordinate strategic projects, and ensure governance and decision-making processes are efficient.Ensure effective communication and knowledge sharing within the organization.Organize resources and organizational structure to implement strategies efficiently.Manage decision-making processes and delegate appropriately.Maintain relationships with governing bodies and represent the EIB Group externally in Brussels and with other stakeholders.QualificationsUniversity degree in a relevant field (business, finance, economics, law, international relations).High-level experience with EU institutions or in public sector roles involving EU matters.Minimum ten years of managerial experience with proven leadership skills.Experience leading multidisciplinary international teams.Knowledge of EIB Group’s objectives, strategies, and EU budget interactions.Understanding of finance and banking institutions.Experience in economic analysis, strategy, or policy-making.Strategic thinking, clarity of vision, analytical skills, and sound judgment.Excellent communication, interpersonal, diplomatic, and leadership skills.Creativity, openness to change, and ability to manage diverging interests.Proficiency in English and/or French, with knowledge of other EU languages advantageous.Additional InformationProficiency in both English and French is required for career development within the EIB. Knowledge of other EU languages is a plus.
