Paris, France OECD - OCDE Temps plein

Company Description The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation comprised of 38 member countries, whose mission is to build better policies for better lives. We promote policies that will improve the economic and social well‑being of people around the world. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work to establish evidence‑based international standards and find solutions to a broad range of social, economic and environmental challenges, from the improvement of economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion. We provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best‑practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard‑setting. Job Description The Economics Department (ECO) leads coordinated, innovative, international action with respect to the OECD’s work on economic policy, both international and domestic. The Department implements the priorities of the Programme of Work and Budget (PWB) set by Member Countries and the Secretary‑General in its area of business. It aims to enhance economic performance through sound and innovative policy advice, covering macro‑economic management and structural policy issues to address material well‑being, social concerns and green aspirations. The Department’s policy advice is derived from country surveillance, cross‑country benchmarking and evidence from empirical research. Much of its analysis informs committee‑based peer review, multilateral surveillance, and contributes to the overall OECD mission. The department is recruiting Senior Economists to address ongoing needs, focusing on structural and macroeconomic cross‑country projects as well as country analysis. Selected candidates will work under the supervision of a Head of Division and interact with governments, NGOs, international organisations, academia, and other OECD Directorates. Main Responsibilities Supervise and co‑ordinate policy‑relevant analysis for the Committees served by the Department, ensuring that work leads to sound policy recommendations underpinned by economic theory and empirical analysis. Contribute to the structural surveillance of member and non‑member economies, guiding and reviewing empirical work and providing technical supervision to economists. Draft background documents, reports, manuals and memos; organise and present information clearly and accurately, complying with relevant guidelines and regulations. Develop analytic documents and working papers on current economic policy issues for Committees, Working Parties, or publication; summarize empirical knowledge for departmental publications and briefing senior officials. Undertake ad‑hoc and innovative analyses to enhance the Organisation’s understanding and capacity on structural and macro‑economic issues. Engage in horizontal work: scrutinise papers for the Economic Policy Committee (EPC), elaborate medium‑term scenarios, disseminate significant developments, contribute to model development and other quantitative work, and participate in cross‑directorate projects. Lead liaison and outreach activities: develop dissemination strategies, engage stakeholders, and represent the OECD at external meetings and missions; respond to enquiries from Delegations, journalists and the public; contribute to communication strategies through media interviews and other channels. Supervise a team of economists, research assistants, secretarial staff, trainees and external consultants; manage projects, allocate resources, and pursue innovation in project management practices. Contribute to financial resource management, mobilise additional funding where possible, and support recruitment activities as needed. Qualifications Ideal Candidate Profile Academic Background Advanced university degree in economics, macroeconomics or a related field. Professional Background At least eight years’ experience in applied economic analysis, policy advice, and structural issues of OECD economies or emerging economies. Experience in economic policy analysis within an international organisation, government ministry, academia, relevant private sector, NGO, think‑tank, or similar. Experience overseeing budget and project management, and fundraising where applicable. Proven experience managing or leading teams of economists and research assistants. Ability to synthesize complex results and present them to non‑specialist audiences.
