Post-doc (f/m) on beamline ID10-COH in the X-ray Diffraction and Scattering Group Join to apply for the Post-doc (f/m) role at ESRF - The European Synchrotron. Context & Job Description The ID10-COH beamline exploits the high fraction of coherent photons delivered by the upgraded ESRF-EBS storage rings to probe nano‑ and atomic‑scale structures and dynamics. Dynamics is studied using X‑ray Photon Correlation Spectroscopy (XPCS), analogous to dynamic light scattering, enabling the study of motions in disordered systems ranging from complex fluids, colloids, vesicles, proteins to glasses. The high flux and new pixel detectors open opportunities to investigate dynamics from sub‑microseconds to thousands of seconds. Nanoscale (~10 nm) imaging is performed using coherent diffraction imaging, allowing 3‑D imaging of isolated objects smaller than 6 µm, applied to specimens ranging from marine algae exoskeletons to battery anodes. You will participate in on‑going in‑house research programmes on the ID10‑COH endstation, contribute to beamline operation, and provide local support to external users. You also have the opportunity to develop your own research programme aligned with ID10‑COH’s objectives and to establish collaborations with ESRF colleagues and the user community. For further information, contact Marco Cammarata (tel.: +33 (0)4 76 88 23 91; email: marco.cammarata@esrf.fr). Expected profile PhD in physics, biophysics, chemistry or related disciplines obtained less than 3 years ago A strong background in data analysis is required Programming aptitude (Python) is an asset Experience in synchrotron radiation experiments is an advantage Team player and ability to interact with multi‑disciplinary staff and facility users Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF) Working conditions Contract of 18 months, renewable for a further 6 to 18‑month period.
