About The Role

We're looking for experienced development economists to help shape how AI understands global and development economics. Your expertise will directly influence the accuracy, depth, and nuance of AI systems tackling some of the world's most complex economic challenges — from poverty and inequality to growth and international development.

Development Economist (AI Training)

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role powered by Alignerr and Labelbox, giving you the opportunity to contribute to cutting‑edge AI research on your own schedule.

  • Organization: Alignerr (Powered by Labelbox)
  • Type: Hourly / Task‑based Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Review and evaluate development economics questions, answers, and explanations used in AI training datasets
  • Assess the quality of AI‑generated reasoning on topics including economic growth, inequality, poverty reduction, and global development
  • Provide clear, structured feedback to improve factual accuracy, analytical rigor, and contextual nuance
  • Apply your real‑world academic or field experience to validate economic scenarios and arguments
  • Work independently and asynchronously to complete task‑based assignments on a flexible schedule

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of experience teaching, researching, or working in development economics
  • Strong command of global economic issues, data interpretation, and policy analysis
  • Able to critically evaluate written economic reasoning with clarity and precision
  • Comfortable working independently on structured review tasks
  • Self‑motivated and reliable with a high attention to detail

Nice to Have

  • Graduate degree in Economics or a related field
  • Experience in field research, NGO work, or international economic policy
  • Familiarity with AI systems, content evaluation, or data annotation workflows
