We are hiring an Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to expand our reach in mission-critical industries such as Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, Telco, and Consumer Electronics. We seek candidates who are accomplished Linux professionals with proficiency in distribution packaging, software design, system debugging, and bringing customer ideas to life. Ubuntu Core, our IoT edition, emphasizes security and resilience for high-end appliances and equipment. We continue to expand offerings including real-time Linux capabilities and upcoming certifications. This portfolio is Linux reinvented for reliability, security, developer productivity and footprint. This role requires a unique blend of skills: strong Linux knowledge, proficient coding/scripting, experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, EFI, Secure Boot, firmware, OS distribution packaging, and embedded software development methodologies. Candidates should enjoy diverse client engagements and be team players who are results-driven. What your day will look like Engage customers during presales to gather requirements and explain Canonical technology Explain and elaborate solutions proposed to prospective clients Participate in the delivery of select projects related to Embedded Linux Convey market requirements to key stakeholders and contribute to development or refinement of generic solutions Be a customer advocate and trusted advisor to Canonical What we are looking for in you Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related technical field Extensive Linux experience (Debian or Ubuntu preferred) Distribution/Packaging experience (deb, rpm, etc.) Solid embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot, etc.) Fluency in at least one of Go, Python, C, C++, or Rust Professional written and spoken English in addition to local language Excellent communication and presentation skills Result-oriented with ability to multi-task Personal drive to meet commitments Humble learner and quick study Willing to travel up to 30% of the time for customer meetings, company events, and conferences For positions in Japan and Korea, ability to speak and write the local language at a professional level Additional skills you might also bring Experience with customer engagements a plus, but not required What we offer We offer a globally consistent compensation philosophy, with base pay plus performance-driven bonuses or commissions.
