Young Associate 2026‑28 - Science, Technology and Innovation Directorate - Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Division Company Description The Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD) is an international organisation comprised of 38 Member countries, that works to build better policies for better lives. Our mission is to promote policies that will improve the economic and social well‑being of people around the world. Together with governments, policy makers and citizens, we work on establishing evidence‑based international standards, and finding solutions to a range of social, economic and environmental challenges. From improving economic performance and creating jobs to fostering strong education and fighting international tax evasion, we provide a unique forum and knowledge hub for data and analysis, exchange of experiences, best‑practice sharing, and advice on public policies and international standard‑setting. The Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Directorate, in line with the strategic objectives of the Secretary‑General, helps OECD Member countries and other key economies build an environment conducive to translating science, technology and knowledge into innovation in order to create economic and social value‑added. The Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) Division is responsible for comparative analyses of the microeconomic drivers of economic growth, productivity, employment, business dynamism and innovation, as well as the ways in which these are affected by globalisation, the digital and green transformations, and structural change. The Division maintains and updates a set of key industry‑level databases and data infrastructures to contribute to this work and the work of other policy analysts across the OECD. Job Description Role STI/PIE is looking for a Young Associate to support PIE’s work on Firms, Digital Transformation and Technology Diffusion. The selected person will work under the supervision of a Senior Economist leading the Firms, Digital Transformation and Technology Diffusion team, under the responsibility of the Head of the PIE Division. Main Responsibilities Contribute to empirical and policy‑oriented work on technology adoption and diffusion, with a particular focus on the semiconductor ecosystem, the diffusion of AI and other digital technologies, and the implications of their diffusion for economic outcomes. Contribute to the development and maintenance of a distributed‑data infrastructure to analyse key firm‑related trends in digital technology diffusion and undertake related empirical analysis. Support further data development efforts, notably in the areas of semiconductors, technology adoption and diffusion. Support the updating of statistical routines, for instance within the OECD Digital Diffuse project, and contribute to the roll‑out of new waves of data collection. Contribute to the production of documents, working papers and publications and clear policy messages. Qualifications Ideal Candidate Profile Academic Background Undergraduate degree in economics, econometrics or another relevant discipline, with a strong foundation in quantitative analysis and statistics (graduation date between 1 January 2025 and 1 September 2026). Applications from candidates who already hold or are enrolled in a Master’s, PhD, or equivalent degree will not be considered. Course work in statistics and microeconomics is required.
