As the Head of Engineering at Escape, you will develop and execute a comprehensive engineering strategy in collaboration with the CTO and CEO - Antoine, Tristan, aligning our technical roadmap with business objectives and driving innovation. You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and support the growth of your team through mentorship and guidance.

You have not only the technical expertise to take on and provide technical leadership to major projects, but also manage a team of Engineers. You not only optimize your own code but make sure Engineers are able to optimize theirs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engineering Strategy Development and Execution: Collaborate closely with the CEO and CTO to define and implement a comprehensive engineering strategy that aligns our technical roadmap with business objectives, driving innovation and ensuring sustainable growth.
  • Architectural Scalability: Collaborate on the architectural design and implementation to effectively scale our platform and enhance system performance.
  • R&D: Implementing and maintenance within our R&D products, with a focus on our AI-driven cybersecurity algorithms, using Golang and Python.
  • Event-Based System: Developing and enhancing our event-based system Kafka, that ingests data from R&D products into a PostgreSQL database, ensuring seamless data flow to support our core technologies.
  • Leadership: Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization’s goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Hands-on: Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Develop and Evolve Technical Direction and Roadmap: Establish the mid-term technical direction and roadmap for your teams, adapting it to address anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs. Continuously refine the roadmap to ensure alignment with organizational goals and emerging industry trends.

  • Svelte with TypeScript for high-performance, intuitive UIs.
  • GraphQL for efficient data querying and responsive applications.
Backend — API:
  • Node.js for server-side logic and GraphQL APIs powered by Yoga, Pothos and Prisma for scalable architecture.
  • PostgreSQL for secure, efficient database management.
  • Kafka for high-performance, event-driven systems.
Backend — Deep Tech:
  • Python for AI and algorithmic development, driving our cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions.
  • Go for network-efficient tasks, optimizing performance and scalability.
DevSecOps:
  • AWS infrastructure which successfully passed Foundational Technical Review for AWS Partner Network.
  • SOC-2 Compliance with rigorous code quality and security standards.
  • GitLab CI for streamlined, secure CI/CD pipelines.
  • Grafana for monitoring.
Code Quality:
  • Modern Standards: All code follows the latest industry standards and best practices.
  • Comprehensive Testing: We maintain high code quality through unit tests, integration tests, end-to-end (E2E) tests, and utilize Codecov for test coverage.
