Biomethane Process Discipline Manager

RENEWABLE GASES EUROPE (RGE) is ENGIE’s business entity responsible for the development of renewable and low carbon gases [1] production in Europe. Since 2015, ENGIE has been developing biomethane production activity. At the beginning of 2023, its portfolio includes 26 plants in operation, of which 19 are self-operated, with a total production capacity of 550 GWh/y @100% and a development pipeline of 1.4 TWh/y.ENGIE is determined to become a leading player in 1G [2] biomethane in Europe. The ambition is to grow rapidly to reach 10 TWh/y of biomethane production capacity by 2030.In Europe, outside France, biomethane production projects are already under development in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Italy. Spain, Portugal and Romania are other countries of interest. The strategy is to develop projects, greenfield and through M&A, to inject biomethane into the gas grid or to produce bioLNG.POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATIONUnder the responsibility of the Head of Engineering, the Discipline Manager Process reports functionally to the Engineering Director .ACTIVITIESThe Discipline Manager Process is responsible for the following activities:Set up and manage the process teamUnder the responsibility of the Head of Engineering, recruit and integrate process engineers - in collaboration with HR team.Manage the process team across the different engineering offices (all types of mechanical, biological and gaz processes used in RGE activities)Ensure the development of team competencies, in coordination with HR & Talents, through training, work experience and career developmentEnsure the production of process engineering deliverables for RGE projects :Manage the process team workload and the adequate mobilization of engineers in project teams (teams reporting operationally to the project manager), at all stages of a project (development, design & procurement, construction&commissioning) to :Perform Preliminary, Basic & Detailed Process Design including equipment design or specification, and sizing, production of heat and material balances, PFDs, P&Ids, preparation of process and equipment specifications and data sheets, drafting of commissioning and operating manuals...Review / validate contractors’ and suppliers’ detailed design and plans for commissioning and testsFollow up during construction&commissioning, supporting project team with site queries, interface management and change managementEnsure that the performance of plants is properly calculated and stretched in compliance with the project’s business planDepending on the project needs and the process team size, the Discipline Manager Process can have to produce himself all types of tasks related to project process engineeringEnsure the industrialization of RGE projects and engineering reliability throughout the project life cycle :Put in place the methods, processes, tools including digital tools guaranteeing the quality of the process engineering produced together with the respect of the project’s business plan, costs, and scheduleEnsure that above all, Health & Safety aspect of existing and new technologies shall systematically be taken into account in the process designEnsure capitalization of lessons learned and continuous improvement of process engineering standards and practicesLOCATIONLa Defense, regular travel to other engineering offices (in the netherlands about one week per month) or project sites may be required (in Europe)MAIN INTERFACESApart from the Engineering team, the Discipline Manager Process will interact with, among others:Management of RGESuppliers and contractorsOther Group Engineering teams, Group Corporate : Knowledge Management Team …CANDIDATE PROFILEThe Discipline Manager Process shall have the following competences and experience:Degree and experience:M.S. degree in chemical engineering or equivalentAt least 15years’ experience in process engineering positions in energy / water/waste treatment / process industry in an EPC contractor companyExperience with working in a project-oriented culture, based on collaborative, agile and innovative ways of workingAt least 5 years’ experience in team managementLanguages:French and other languages are a plusSkills:LeadershipMulticultural team management ; Good understanding of cultural differences and ability to manage themStrong interpersonal and relationship/cooperation skillsVery familiar with Engineering entities / matrix organizationChange management skills, open minded and support for changeAbility to work in a complex and dynamic environmentRespectful, professional, ethical, fair, trustworthy[1] Gases including biomethane and synthetic methane but excluding hydrogen[2] Biomethane of first generation produced by anaerobic digestion of biomassBusiness Unit: GBU Networks #J-18808-Ljbffr
