This position reports to the Cluster Tax Lead for Western/Southern Europe, Latin America, Middle East and Africa. Join ABB’s Corporate Tax team to manage tax matters in the Netherlands, Belgium, and France, ensuring compliance and implementing global tax strategies. The role can be based in Rotterdam, Brussels, or Cergy, with hybrid working options available and the flexibility to work from your current location in either France, Belgium or the Netherlands. Your Responsibilities Tax Compliance: Ensure full compliance with local and international tax laws; review and sign corporate income tax returns; oversee statutory audits for material tax items; monitor legislative changes; approve SOPs; advise on complex tax matters and system configurations; review tax payments and refund applications. Tax Planning & Risk Management: Identify tax planning opportunities and incentives (e.g., R&D, Capex); strategically manage tax risks; propose and implement mitigation measures; advise on cash repatriation, dividend distribution, and capital changes; share best practices across the organization. Business Support: Provide tax advice on transactions, cross-border projects, reorganizations, new investments, and ERP migrations; support income tax, WHT, and VAT queries; collaborate with Country Finance Managers and ensure adherence to ABB tax standards and processes. Transfer Pricing: Ensure compliance with ABB transfer pricing policies; maintain country-specific documentation and fulfill local requirements (e.g., CbCR notifications). Tax Audits & Disputes: Act as primary liaison with tax authorities; manage audits and disputes in collaboration with internal teams and external advisors; ensure timely resolution of complex cases. External Advisors: Establish and nurture positive relationships with external tax advisors to guarantee effective support and guidance. M&A & Legal Entity Management: Participate in M&A projects; support legal entity rationalization initiatives, including simplification and deregistration processes. Tax Accounting & Reporting: Oversee US GAAP tax accounting and reporting; ensure accurate disclosures in quarterly and annual reports; assess uncertain tax positions and sign off FIN48/FIN14 assessments; perform reconciliations for rolling forecasts. Policies & Controls: Contribute to continuous improvement of tax policies and procedures; ensure compliance with internal controls and sign-off assurance letters. Knowledge Sharing & Training: Deliver tax training to key internal stakeholders, including finance and operations teams, to enhance tax awareness and compliance. Your Experiences Master’s degree in accounting, finance, tax, or legal Minimum 8+ years of proven tax experience Advanced analytical skills and ability to manage tasks effectively in a changing environment Skilled in building consensus and engaging stakeholders Proficient English communication; Dutch or French is a plus Willingness to learn tax regulations in oversight countries This presents a valuable chance for a knowledgeable tax practitioner looking to expand their skills across various regions.
