Job Summary
The Development & Events Intern will assist in all areas related to fundraising and special events. This role provides hands‑on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor cultivation, event coordination, and community outreach, allowing the intern to develop a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in growing programs such as Kids For Wish Kids, Workplace Giving, and Corporate Partners through planning, research, and solicitation of local companies, schools, clubs, and civic organizations.
- Support national partnership campaigns, gathering and sharing wish story information, and preparing donor mailings.
- Assist in planning, marketing, and coordinating major special events, wish celebrations, and auction item donations.
- Provide logistical support for events, including on‑site assistance and post‑event follow‑up.
- Identify and manage speaking engagements, Youth Leadership Committee activities, and community engagement opportunities.
- Contribute to cause‑related marketing initiatives and promote outreach through local partnerships and events.
- Support office operations with daily tasks, such as database updates, correspondence, and general office assistance.
- Assist the development team in maintaining records and coordinating internal communications.
Qualifications
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and writing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of social media is a plus.
