CONTEXT The consolidation organisation recently integrated the Statutory Consolidation and Product Flow departments, leading to the creation of a new senior expert role: Consolidation Expert. Positioned as the technical deputy to the Head of Statutory Consolidation, the role has no direct managerial responsibility but carries substantial functional authority. This role is intended to reinforce the technical depth of the consolidation team, and to support a demanding production rhythm. It aims to secure the quality of consolidated financial statements, elevate the team’s expertise, strengthen controls and accompany the organisation through upcoming technical and structural projects. ROLE Reporting Links Consolidation Leads and the Consolidation Support Team (Budapest) Local affiliates Group Controlling, Tax, Treasury, Legal and Technical Accounting teams External auditors Main Responsibilities Financial Consolidation Lead the most technical steps of the close process, including scope and method definition, mappings, FX translation, intercompany eliminations, equity method, step acquisitions/disposals, opening balances and changes in ownership. Prepare, validate and document complex top‑side entries and consolidation adjustments such as PPA, impairment indicators, IFRS 16, revenue topics, financial instruments and taxes. Perform analytical reviews of P&L, balance sheet and cash flow, ensuring clear rationales for variances and judgments. Co‑own the consolidation calendar and support affiliates and GBS teams to deliver timely, complete and accurate submissions. Conduct post‑close reviews and drive corrective actions to standardise processes and shorten timelines. Technical Expertise – IFRS & Complex Topics Ensure full compliance with IFRS across all consolidation activities. Produce technical documentation, working papers and decision logs with full audit readiness. Act as the primary technical point of contact for auditors on complex consolidation issues. Assess the impact of IFRS evolutions and propose structured, pragmatic implementation plans. Impairment & Intangible Asset Valuation Oversee impairment testing (IAS 36) and intangible asset valuation (IAS 38), including CGU definition, goodwill allocation and the review of valuation assumptions and models. Ensure appropriate booking of impairment charges, reversals and related tax effects. Review internal and advisor valuation models, ensuring alignment with accounting policies and financial forecasts. Disclosure Management Contribute to consolidated financial statements and notes, ensuring consistency across documentation. Lead or review disclosures related to intangible assets, impairment and valuation assumptions. Prepare concise materials for CFO reviews and Audit Committee discussions. Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement Act as a power user of the consolidation system (SAP FC/BFC), ensuring data integrity, appropriate validation rules and strong exception reporting. Enhance intercompany matching, reconciliations and consolidation controls. Participate in future system upgrades or replacements and support UAT activities. Standardise templates, checklists and close controls; introduce automation where relevant. Cross‑functional Impact & Team Support Guide and mentor Consolidation Leads and local teams; deliver targeted training on consolidation and IFRS topics. Act as a technical role model, promoting high standards in analysis, documentation and communication. Support the department’s transformation, helping to stabilise the consolidation function and prepare for future organisational developments. Profile Required Skills & Qualifications Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance; professional certification (CPA/DEC/ACCA) is a strong advantage. 8–12+ years of experience in group consolidation with proven exposure to complex topics. Strong mastery of consolidation mechanics, IFRS, PPA, impairment testing, deferred taxes and financial instruments. Experience in fast‑paced environments, ideally including carve‑out, restructuring or transaction‑driven contexts. Proficiency with SAP FC/BFC and advanced Excel; familiarity with planning or disclosure tools is a plus. Ability to understand economic substance, challenge assumptions and translate transactions into accurate accounting treatments.
