Act as a backbone and orchestrator for the order lifecycle, enabling the seamless launch of new products and services to propel the company's growth. As a Senior Backend Engineer II, you will work closely with all members of your squad and the Staff engineer of your group. Bi‑monthly rituals with your group and the Backend Chapter will allow you to share what works, learn from others, and ensure your technical direction aligns with the overall vision. Main technical challenges Back Market’s technical stack is transitioning from a monolith to a distributed, service‑oriented architecture. Building efficient, loosely coupled services is a key challenge. Teams are empowered to independently control release schedules, manage data, SLAs, tools, and be responsible for their own service offering. Platform teams provide a scalable, consistent, and secure platform to increase engineering productivity. Our technical environment Application: Python – FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, Celery, Golang, Django (phasing out) Data: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, BigQuery Infrastructure: GCP, Kubernetes (GKE), Docker, Datadog, ArgoCD, CircleCI, GitHub What You Will Do In This Role Help build and operate efficient, high‑cohesion, low‑coupling services with security and privacy by design to support business growth. Work in an agile “build it and run it” environment where engineering teams launch, monitor, and support products they own. Passion for clean, consistent, well‑organized code and a team player who creates a learning and sharing environment. English fluency is required; the team is international with members in the US, FR, ES, JP.
