System Engineer

CT19 has exclusively partnered with a fast-growing energy storage start-up operating at the intersection of advanced engineering, clean energy, and industrial innovation.With operations spanning advanced R&D and high-volume industrial production, the company addresses applications in sustainable mobility, supporting the global transition to low‑carbon energy systems.As part of its continued expansion, our client is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to define, develop, and validate complex energy systems. The role ensures technical consistency from customer requirements to final qualification and involves close collaboration with cross‑functional teams across R&D, mechanical, electronic, software, quality, and industrialization domains.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine, structure, and manage system requirements (customer, internal, regulatory).Translate requirements into subsystems including thermal, fluidic, electrochemical, electrical, control, and safety.Maintain system architecture (functional, logical, physical) and ensure traceability via tools such as DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent.Manage system integration and ensure technical‑functional consistency.Contribute to the design, optimization, and integration of fuel cell systems (PEM), containers, or related electrochemical systems.Address thermal, fluidic, mechanical, and electrochemical challenges.Support development of control algorithms and logic for thermal management, stack management, and hydrogen safety.Conduct or supervise 0D studies (thermal balances, fluid flow, electrochemical performance, multi‑physics modelling).Supervise 1D simulations using MATLAB/Simulink, GT Suite, or similar tools.Perform risk analyses, system FMEAs, and safety studies (hydrogen, ATEX).Validation & TestingDefine system validation plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria.Participate in prototype testing, diagnostics, and investigations.Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO 62282-2/3, IEC 61508/60079, ISO 13849, ISO 26262, etc.).Project Management & CommunicationCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure design, development, and validation consistency.Monitor technical progress, test reports, and system documentation.Participate in drafting technical proposals and contractual documentation.Communicate effectively in French and English with internal teams, suppliers, and partners.EducationMaster’s degree in Energy/Thermal Engineering, Electrochemistry, Process Engineering, Mechatronics, Systems Engineering, or a related field.ExperienceMinimum 2 years in development, integration, or validation of complex systems.Desired experience in fuel cells, electrolyzers, hydrogen energy systems, thermal or electrochemical machines, mobility applications, energy storage, or microgrids.Technical SkillsStrong mastery of systems engineering (V‑cycle, architecture, requirements management).Experience with DOORS, Polarion, or equivalent tools (Jama, Capella, Cameo).Knowledge of thermal, fluidic, energy transfers, electrochemistry, fuel cells, hydrogen, and control/command software.Experience with risk analysis, FMEA, HAZOP, and hydrogen safety.Personal SkillsAnalytical and synthesis skills with attention to detail.Rigorous, autonomous, and proactive mindset.Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.Fluent in English (written and spoken).Conditions & BenefitsPosition within an R&D / advanced engineering environment.Opportunity to work on prototypes and test benches.Occasional travel to suppliers, partners, or test sites may be required.Hybrid working model with 1 day remote work per week.Friendly, collaborative working environment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
