Head of Custody - Crypto/Fintech (Malta)Join to apply for the Head of Custody - Crypto/Fintech (Malta) role at AqoviaOverview:The Head of Custody is responsible for overseeing the secure custody and safekeeping of crypto-assets for the Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP), ensuring compliance with the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) and the company's Electronic Money Institution (EMI) operations. Based in Malta, this role guarantees the integrity, security, and accessibility of clients’ crypto-assets by implementing robust custody policies and procedures aligned with regulatory standards. The Head of Custody will collaborate with executive and compliance teams to safeguard assets and uphold regulatory compliance in a dynamic fintech environment.Key Responsibilities:Oversee the custody and safekeeping of crypto-assets, ensuring compliance with MiCA requirements for secure storage, client asset segregation, and accessibility.Develop and implement custody policies, including key management, wallet security (hot/cold storage), and disaster recovery plans specific to crypto-assets.Manage operational processes for depositing, withdrawing, and transferring crypto-assets, ensuring efficiency, security, and transparency for clients.Coordinate with the CSO to integrate custody security measures within the broader ICT and cybersecurity framework under MiCA and ISO 27001 standards.Liaise with the Head of Compliance and MLRO to ensure custody operations meet AML/CTF obligations and MiCA client protection standards, reporting to the MFSA as required.Qualifications:Degree in finance, business, information technology, or a related field; certifications in blockchain, crypto custody, or security (e.g., CISM, CCSP) are highly desirable.Minimum of 7 years’ experience in custody, asset management, or security leadership, preferably within fintech or financial services involving crypto-assets.Deep understanding of MiCA custody requirements, crypto wallet technologies, and secure asset management practices.Proven ability to design and manage custody systems, with expertise in risk management and operational resilience for crypto-assets.Excellent organizational and communication skills, capable of collaborating across teams and engaging with regulators effectively.Why Join Aqovia?Impactful Work – Be part of a high-growth organization shaping the future of fintech.Career Growth – We invest in talent and provide opportunities for professional advancement.Collaborative Culture – We value teamwork, transparency, and continuous learning.Comprehensive Benefits – Competitive salary, bonus, healthcare, gym membership, pension scheme, Perkbox, and more.Diversity & InclusionAqovia is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace that reflects the communities we serve.
