Product Manager

Product Manager – Ubuntu Canonical is a leading provider of open‑source software and operating systems to the global enterprise and technology markets. Ubuntu is widely used in public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT initiatives. Our product management team are technologists who deliver products and solutions that shape market demands while advancing open‑source software everywhere. Location: These roles are home‑based in the EMEA time zone. Candidates must be located in this region. Responsibilities Lead the product development lifecycle, reviewing the priorities and goals for your product. Collaborate with engineering, design, marketing, and sales teams. Align on priorities, enable informed decisions, and keep business execution on track. Conduct market research, analyze industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities. Communicate product vision, status updates, and key decisions for alignment and expectation management. Conduct usability testing, analyze user feedback, and iterate to improve the user experience. Work with marketing, sales, and support to develop go‑to‑market strategies, create documentation, and provide training. Support the sales team in winning new opportunities, reviewing customer feedback, and participating in customer meetings. Oversee the work of a product line, ensuring consistency in strategy and execution across different teams. Facilitate collaboration and resolve conflicts within and across departments. Qualifications Exceptional academic results at high school and university. Strong understanding of Linux and the open‑source community. Knowledge of computer architecture, application development, datacenters, cloud, or devices. Passion to write about technologies and the tech landscape. Strong work ethic and personal interests aligned with the open‑source movement. Curiosity and habit of continuous learning. Strong sense of ownership. Problem‑solving and innovation skills. Outstanding communication skills in English. For senior positions, product‑management experience in the software industry. Ability to manage multiple projects or product lines while focusing on key priorities. Demonstrated leadership in aligning diverse teams and driving consensus. Willingness to travel internationally up to four times a year for up to two weeks. Additional Skills We Value Familiarity with verticals such as Telco, Finance, Industrial, Automotive. Knowledge of Silicon, IHV, ISV, ODM/OEMs, cloud service providers, and channel. Experience with cloud‑native technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker containers, and Snap. Experience with embedded and connected device technology and ecosystems. Proficiency in networking technologies – ethernet, IPv4/IPv6, routing, firewalling, overlays, VPNs, SR‑IOV, InfiniBand. Experience in telco networking – RAN, Core, CPE. Leading distributed teams across time zones. Fostering collaboration and innovation in team settings.
