PROJECT OVERVIEW
Eiffage, through its subsidiary Eiffage Génie Civil, has secured a design-build contract awarded by Statens Vegvesen, under the Norwegian Ministry of Transport, for the construction of a new segment of the E18-E39 urban motorway in Kristiansand, Norway, with a budget exceeding €234 million.
This contract aims to enhance the capacity of the main interchange providing access to the city center and port activities of Norway's sixth-largest city. The project includes the construction of a 1.4 km 2x2 lane motorway in a densely populated urban area, which encompasses the building of 12 structures, the reconstruction of 1.5 km of track, and the redevelopment of the existing ferry terminal along with the installation of electrical and traffic engineering systems.
The Norwegian government has designated this project as a "pilot for the use of low-carbon energy," aiming for a BREEAM rating of "Excellent." Eiffage will leverage the expertise and innovative solutions from various divisions, including the use of Eiffage Route's GB5 ultra-high performance asphalt mix for pavements and Biophalt, a bio-sourced binder mix for cycle paths and pavements. The project will be executed in four phases, maintaining road, cycle, and rail traffic as well as access to maritime infrastructures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Methods Engineer will be responsible for proposing and developing specific construction phasing and methods in collaboration with the Construction and Design departments, ensuring alignment with the project planning and budget.
The primary focus will be on identifying and addressing all constraints necessary for the successful execution of the construction program.
Given the urban nature of the project near Kristiansand City center, the successful management of these constraints is critical.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the following tasks will be undertaken:
- Identification of zoning plans and constraints
- Development of installation plans and drawings
- Creation of detailed phasing sequences
- Preliminary design for road diversions
- Design principles for temporary works
- Specific construction methodologies for structures
- Exploration of alternative solutions
- Assessment of risks and opportunities related to methods and phasing
- Deliverables: Method statements, 2D phasing drawings (Autocad or similar), 3D phasing models (Solibri, Revit, Civil 3D, or similar) based on design models (IFC or STEP files)
CANDIDATE PROFILE
We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction and methods within similar highway projects.
