**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse 1 Psychiatric to join our team at New York State. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional nursing care to individuals diagnosed with mental illness.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide professional nursing services, including nursing interventions and their documentation, case finding, health teaching/counseling, and supportive and/or restorative care.
  • Participate in staff training and education to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate clinical and administrative reports.
  • Maintain infection control standards and ensure a safe and healthy environment for patients and staff.
  • Function as a member of a treatment team and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
  • Act as a charge nurse on a unit and be responsible for maintaining inventory standards for medicine, controlled drugs, and narcotics.

**Requirements:**

  • Possession of a license and current registration to practice nursing in New York State.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.

  • If you fail to maintain your license and/or registration once you are appointed, action will be taken to remove you from the position.
  • In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program).
  • If appointed, you may be required to become an enrolled Medicare provider; obtain and provide to your employer a National Provider Identifier (NPI) number issued by the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES); and otherwise actively participate to the degree necessary to allow for your services to be billed through Medicare and Medicaid.
