AV Systems Specialist

At The Aga Khan Academies, we are seeking a highly skilled AV Systems Specialist to join our team. This role will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and operation of audio-visual equipment for various events and productions.

• Install and maintain audio-visual equipment, including display devices, projectors, televisions, camera systems, video teleconferencing systems (VTC), microphones, and speakers.
• Perform equipment storage and transportation activities in a safe and secure manner.
• Set up and operate audio-visual equipment for training, presentations, meetings, and conferences.
• Perform equipment additions, removals, repairs, replacements, and inspections.
• Conduct sound, visual, and performance quality checks on AV equipment during live events.
• Assemble and disassemble audio-visual equipment as needed.
• Lay electrical and sound cables.
• Inspect mountings and electrical equipment to ensure they conform to health and safety regulations.
• Install and configure computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
• Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks to ensure smooth operation and to identify and address problems promptly.
• Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults.
• Provide technical support to end-users either face-to-face, over the phone, or via email.
• Set up new user accounts and profiles and handle password issues.
• Conduct regular system backups and data recovery in case of system failures.
• Manage and keep track of IT inventory and equipment.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends and update computer systems, software, and hardware accordingly.

• A minimum of a diploma in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science is often the minimum requirement; however, vocational training, an associate degree, or certification programs in audio engineering, video production, or related fields can be beneficial.

• Prior experience in audio-visual setup and operation is highly valuable and can be gained through internships, entry-level positions, or volunteer work in AV-related roles.
• A strong understanding of audio and visual equipment, including but not limited to sound systems, microphones, projectors, displays, lighting systems, and control systems, including knowledge of how to set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain this equipment.
• Proficiency in digital front-of-house mixers such as Allen & Heath SQ6, Soundcraft digital recording, line array systems, LED DMX lighting control desk programming for scenes using Avolites Desk, management of LED screens, and implementation.
• Strong technical skills, including knowledge of computer hardware and software, networking fundamentals, audiovisual equipment, and systems integration.

• Problem-solving skills: Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues that may arise during events or productions.
• Communication skills: Effective communication is essential for interacting with clients, colleagues, and event organizers.
• Organization and Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail: Precision is key when setting up and adjusting audio and visual equipment to ensure optimal sound and picture quality.
• Teamwork: Collaborating with other technicians, event planners, and clients is common in this role.
• Knowledge of AV Software: Familiarity with software used for audio mixing, video editing, and AV control systems can be advantageous.
• Physical stamina: Good physical health and stamina are important due to the potential for lifting heavy equipment and standing for long periods.
• Adaptability: Technology evolves rapidly, so it's essential to stay updated with the latest trends and be adaptable to new technologies and methodologies.
• Customer Service Skills: Providing excellent customer service and ensuring client satisfaction is paramount in this role.

We offer a competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications, estimated at $70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on the candidate's background and the specific requirements of the position.
