Job Title: Senior Environmental and Social Development Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental and Social Development Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the potential environmental and social risks and impacts of assigned projects, ensuring compliance with MIGA's Performance Standards and the WBG Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess environmental and social risks and impacts of assigned projects
  • Develop mitigation plans to ensure compliance with MIGA's Performance Standards and the WBG Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines
  • Work with MIGA clients to ensure effective implementation of mitigation plans
  • Monitor compliance with MIGA's Performance Standards and the WBG Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines
  • Support origination and business development with Europe-based clients
  • Lead training on E&S issues to MIGA clients and internal staff
  • Curate knowledge and disseminate lessons learned and standard methodologies within MIGA community
Requirements
  • Advanced degree in Environment, Social Science, Engineering, or similar field
  • Minimum of 8 years of directly relevant work experience in environment and/or social management and assessment
  • Track record in working with private sector firms across different industry sectors to identify environmental and social risks and issues
  • Experience with IFC/MIGA Performance Standards on Environmental and Social Sustainability
  • International experience required; experience in developing countries and/or fragile and conflict states is preferred
