Toulouse, Occitanie, France Pangea AeroSpace Temps plein

About Pangea Aerospace:

We are a pioneering organization focused on the advancement of propulsion technologies for the aerospace sector, driven by three fundamental principles: exceptional efficiency, environmental sustainability, and reusability. Our mission is to transform the aerospace landscape through innovative solutions that deliver optimal performance at competitive costs.

Our vision is to become the leading propulsion supplier for the next generation of spacecraft, which are vital to address the increasing demands and thrive in the expanding aerospace market of the coming years.

We are a dedicated, diverse, and multidisciplinary team committed to pushing the limits of what is achievable in propulsion technology.

We have already achieved a significant milestone by successfully testing the world's first 3D printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a historic moment for the aerospace industry.

We are seeking skilled professionals to join our international team in a dynamic environment. We aim to enhance diversity within the aerospace sector, as we believe that varied perspectives (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) are essential for success. At Pangea, we provide equal opportunities for growth and development. We encourage you to consider joining us, as together we form an exceptional team.

We are in search of a Control Systems Engineer in Toulouse :

About Your Role:

Within the Systems Department, your responsibilities will encompass defining, analyzing, and interfacing systems and subsystems, with a particular emphasis on Control Engineering. You will assist in the formulation and evaluation of concepts of operations (CONOPS), requirements (including functional, RAMS, performance, etc.), system models, and system parameters, while also conducting trade-offs, establishing constraints, and developing conceptual designs. Collaboration with various departments will be essential to define subsystem and component requirements, and you will support other teams in articulating their needs. Familiarity with ECSS standards is anticipated.

You will engage closely with all departments and disciplines within Pangea to maintain a comprehensive perspective of the entire system. You should be adept at working with large teams and proactively reaching out to gather necessary inputs from both internal and external colleagues. Ideally, your expertise should span systems engineering, rocketry, and rocket propulsion, with a strong focus on control engineering (e.g., closed/open loop control, transfer functions, stability margins, etc.), as this will be your area of specialization within the systems engineering group. While your primary responsibilities may extend beyond control engineering, a solid understanding of this field will enable you to effectively assess systems from this viewpoint when required.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Defining system and subsystem specifications
  • Creating detailed CONOPS documentation
  • Developing high-level conceptual designs, architectures, and block diagrams
  • Monitoring system parameters and budgets
  • Ensuring compliance with requirements and verification processes
  • Supporting documentation and knowledge management initiatives
  • Modeling and assessing the system's performance from a control engineering standpoint, including control loops, sensors, actuators, and defining control performance criteria
  • Assisting in the early-stage development of next-generation rocket engines for both internal projects and collaborations with external partners such as the European Space Agency

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Master's degree in aerospace engineering, control engineering, or related disciplines
  • Several years of experience in systems engineering and/or control engineering
  • Experience in systems engineering practices
  • Some familiarity with ECSS standards
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant disciplines in rocket propulsion
  • Strong knowledge of control engineering principles
  • Proficiency in programming with MATLAB, along with experience using Simulink or the MATLAB Control Toolbox, is highly advantageous

Additional Beneficial Skills:

  • Practical experience in the development of rocket engines or launch vehicles
  • Familiarity with Collaborative Engineering tools (i.e., Valispace, CDP4, OCDT)
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and open-minded environment
  • Start-up mentality
  • Creative problem-solving skills and experience in overcoming challenges
  • Proficiency in French is a plus

If you find yourself not meeting every requirement, we encourage you to apply regardless. Research indicates that many individuals hesitate to apply if they do not meet all qualifications. At Pangea Aerospace, we are dedicated to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. If you are passionate about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with every qualification mentioned, we still strongly encourage you to apply. You may be the ideal candidate for this position or other opportunities within our organization.
