Position Overview
NALYS is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary geotechnical engineering expert on tenders, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and project execution within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Assess the quality of existing site investigations and determine the necessity for additional site investigations, ensuring comprehensive data collection.
- Analyze offshore site investigation data and integrate findings into the detailed design of subsea infrastructure projects.
- Execute detailed designs for various foundation types, including gravity-based (skirted) foundations, piled foundations, and suction piles, while also evaluating and recommending pipe-lay initiation anchors.
- Utilize advanced 2D and 3D finite element software for the analysis and design of complex soil-structure interaction scenarios.
- Apply limit analysis techniques to estimate collapse loads for foundations subjected to intricate loading conditions.
- Conduct Pipeline Soil Interaction (PSI) analyses and collaborate with engineering teams on pipeline and umbilical installation assessments, stability evaluations, and buckling and walking analyses.
- Design interventions for pipelines, including dredging assessments, pre- and post-lay rock berm designs, and evaluations of crossing stability and settlement.
- Recognize and assess various geohazards impacting construction sites and their implications for project execution.
- Undertake offshore responsibilities, such as supervising site investigations, foundation installations, and pipeline trenching activities as required.
Candidate Profile
- A Master's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the field.
- Strong analytical and innovative problem-solving abilities, with a knack for proposing and developing new methodologies.
- A solid understanding of client requirements and the capability to provide tailored, effective solutions.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, requiring minimal supervision.
- Willingness to undertake short-term international assignments as necessary.
Required Experience and Skills
- Proficient in foundation design adhering to API, DNV, and ISO standards.
- Experienced in designing various foundation types, including gravity-based (skirted) foundations, driven piles, and suction piles.
- Familiar with Pipeline Soil Interaction (PSI) analyses and supporting engineering disciplines for pipeline and umbilical installation evaluations.
- Knowledgeable in geotechnical engineering software such as Plaxis 2D/3D, OPILE, Limit State Geo, and GRLWEAP.
