Overview of the Role and Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a seasoned IT Compliance Specialist with expertise in Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), dual-use regulations, and the EU's Directive on Security of Network and Information Systems (NIS2). This vital position ensures that our IT frameworks and processes adhere to these intricate regulatory standards, which are essential for our operations and cybersecurity measures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development of Compliance Strategies: Formulate and execute an IT compliance strategy that aligns with EAR, ITAR, dual-use regulations, and NIS2, ensuring full compliance across all IT systems and processes.
- Risk Assessment and Management: Perform comprehensive risk assessments to pinpoint potential compliance vulnerabilities within IT operations. Develop and implement strategies to mitigate these risks, safeguarding the integrity and security of our IT infrastructure.
- Management of Regulatory Compliance: Spearhead initiatives to guarantee that IT systems and processes comply with EAR, ITAR, dual-use regulations, and NIS2, including oversight of export controls, data protection, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Collaboration Across Functions: Partner closely with IT, legal, cybersecurity, and business units to ensure a unified approach to compliance. Provide expert advice on IT compliance issues throughout the organization.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Consistently monitor adherence to established policies and procedures. Prepare and submit compliance reports to relevant regulatory authorities as necessary. Maintain thorough documentation of compliance activities, audits, and evaluations.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Create and uphold current IT compliance policies and procedures. Ensure effective communication and enforcement of these policies across the organization.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Law, or a related discipline. Advanced degrees or professional certifications in compliance, cybersecurity, or similar fields are highly regarded.
- At least 5 years of experience in IT compliance, with specific knowledge of EAR, ITAR, dual-use regulations, and NIS2 or comparable cybersecurity frameworks.
- A strong grasp of IT systems, network security, and data protection principles.
- Experience in conducting compliance audits, risk assessments, and implementing corrective measures.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating with various departments and articulating complex compliance issues clearly.
- Leadership capabilities and the ability to drive compliance initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
