Job Overview
SCALINX is on the lookout for a Lead RF DAC Design Architect to spearhead the development of high-speed, high-performance wideband Digital to Analog Converter (DAC) functionalities for our upcoming RF SoC product aimed at the 5G Communication sector. This role requires close collaboration with AMS, Digital, and layout engineers, as well as the silicon evaluation team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in defining the architecture of the DAC, incorporating mixed-signal and/or fully digital calibration techniques, and establishing specifications for sub-blocks, floorplan strategies, and testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the RF SoC architect to translate customer requirements into DAC specifications (resolution, Noise Spectral Density, harmonic Distortion, SFDR).
- Conduct benchmarking of state-of-the-art RF DACs.
- Design the DAC architecture and calibration techniques to achieve dynamic specifications while minimizing power consumption.
- Work alongside the RF SoC architect and other designers to specify interface characteristics.
- Create high-level behavioral models for ADCs.
- Coordinate with digital system architects and designers to define the interface between DAC cells and digital processing functions, including DPD.
- Establish specifications for AMS and digital sub-blocks of the DAC, including calibration circuits.
- Engage with the layout team to discuss floor planning and isolation strategies to protect sensitive analog/RF components from noise.
- Contribute to the simulation strategy to validate DAC performance and calibration techniques.
- Collaborate with the silicon evaluation team to define integrated test points/patterns and evaluation plans.
- Participate in design reviews and characterization activities.
- Document processes and findings.
Qualifications and Experience
- MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in designing and evaluating high-speed, high-performance DACs.
- Proven experience in specifying high-speed, high-resolution Digital to Analog Converter architectures in advanced CMOS processes.
- Expertise in designing mixed-signal functions such as ADCs and/or DACs is essential.
- Deep understanding of error mechanisms impacting linearity and noise performance in DACs.
- Experience in defining and implementing calibration techniques to mitigate static and dynamic errors in high-speed, high-resolution DACs.
- Strong grasp of digital and analog signal processing to leverage the advantages of both domains.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the entire analog & mixed-signal IC design flow.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to collaborate effectively with AMS, Digital, and layout teams, as well as the silicon evaluation team.
- Experience with product development cycles from concept to production.
- A collaborative team player with a critical mindset and a proactive approach.
- Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
