About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Life Insurance Underwriter to join our team at Integrity Marketing Group. As a Senior Life Insurance Underwriter, you will play a critical role in evaluating and classifying risks to determine insurability and determine targeted carriers based on sale goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and summarize lifestyle, medical, non-medical, and financial data to accurately evaluate and classify risks.
- Deliver competitive outcomes by applying underwriting and product experience.
- Identify and address underwriting challenges within life applications, questionnaires, lab results, exams, and medical records.
- Advocate and negotiate with insurance carriers on formal and informal offers.
- Consult with agents, brokers, internal staff, insurance companies, medical professionals, and other stakeholders to gather additional information.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest medical advancements and changes in relation to underwriting.
- Apply knowledge and experience to provide consistent and accurate advice on pre-sale inquiries.
- Utilize web-based Agency Management System (AMS) to document UW Summary and important information related to cases.
- Work in a team-focused environment with a willingness to contribute beyond assigned workload to support overall success of the underwriting department.
- Produce holistic case-by-case solutions that incorporate all dynamics of risk assessment in a multi-carrier brokerage environment.
- Participate in mentoring and training initiatives to develop skills and knowledge of newer underwriters and case managers.
- Escalate cases with carrier partners as needed and continuously look for ways to expedite and improve processes and service.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in life insurance underwriting.
- Strong phone and computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Prior experience in online reinsurance manuals, carrier-specific manuals, crediting/table-shave programs, and published guidelines.
- Basic knowledge of life insurance industry, including key carriers and product strengths.
- Ability to work in a team-focused environment and contribute beyond assigned workload.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to stay up-to-date on industry developments and changes.
