Senior Director of Data Engineering

As a Senior Director of Data Engineering at Publicis Groupe, you will be responsible for executing data architecture assessments, defining and implementing data transformation strategies for clients, and designing and delivering modern and enterprise-grade target architectures for data platforms. You will also shape a cloud-native landing zone, supporting modern data architecture patterns, and contribute to the definition and execution of data governance models.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical leadership and hands-on implementation in data techniques, including data ingestion, transformation/processing, quality, modeling, and visualization.
- Act as a technical lead of a globally distributed team, managing functional and non-functional scope, quality, and timelines.
- Help establish standard data practices and frameworks, such as data governance, quality, validation, security, privacy, scheduling, monitoring, and logging/error management.
- Exhibit thought leadership and provide business and technical consulting to clients and mentorship/coaching to team members.
Requirements:
- 15 years of IT experience, with 8+ years in data-related technologies.
- 3+ years of expertise in cloud-related data services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience in leading data audits/assessments, defining data strategies, and providing consulting skills to clients.
- Experience in leading technical architecture, design, and delivery of data solutions in production, at scale, based on modern solutions and stacks.
- Expertise in data ingestion, distributed data processing, and programming languages (Java/Scala, Python).
- Experience in NoSQL databases and data governance, security, cataloging, and lineage concepts.
- Good understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) using Cloud-based DevOps services or Jenkins/Bamboo.
Preferred Experience and Knowledge:
- Python notebook experience.
- Data pipeline orchestration.
- Knowledge of Kafka streaming.
- Parquet storage and Apache Iceberg SQL formatting.
- Containers, Docker, and Kubernetes Engine.
- Distributed messaging queues (RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ).
- Data security: raw-level security, multi-tenancy pattern, column-based masking, filtering, minimization, anonymization/pseudonymization techniques.
- One or more traditional ETL tools experience (Informatica, Talend).
- Search/Indexing Technologies (Solr).
- Knowledge of Machine Learning.
- Agile ways of working (Scrum/Kanban).
Education:
- Master's/Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
