About the Role

Ogury is on the lookout for a Senior Ruby Developer to join our team and lead the development of new features, enhancements, and maintenance of a crucial Ruby on Rails application for our operations.

As a Senior Ruby Developer, your responsibilities will include designing, implementing, testing, and maintaining new features and functionalities for our application. You will also be tasked with evolving our existing architecture towards a more standardized dedicated frontend/backend structure with an API-first approach. You will troubleshoot issues, resolve bugs, and ensure the application’s stability and reliability. Collaboration with a team lead and product manager within a partially remote team of three developers will be essential, along with working closely with a design team and various other teams within Ogury.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain new features and functionalities in Ruby within the legacy Ruby on Rails application, in collaboration with the development team;
  • Adapt legacy Ruby-on-Rails based web services to meet new requirements and features, working alongside the development team and the Product Manager.
  • Lead the modernization of the legacy Ruby on Rails application to ensure its sustainability in the medium term: upgrading the Rails framework, updating dependencies, refactoring code, and eliminating obsolete code.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to identify technical requirements and propose solutions to technical challenges.
  • Participate in the team’s agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, and grooming sessions.
  • Engage in code reviews to maintain code quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices while continuously improving application monitoring, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Contribute to the development of junior developers through mentorship and coaching.

About You

  • You are an experienced Software Engineer proficient in Ruby on Rails technology.
  • You possess experience with NodeJS technology.
  • You are skilled in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; knowledge of React is a plus but not essential.
  • You apply and promote software design patterns and best practices.
  • You are comfortable writing unit, end-to-end, and integration tests, and are an active problem-solver.
  • You thrive in a global team environment and are proficient in the English language.
  • You are eager to work alongside junior engineers to support their growth through your mentorship and coaching abilities.
