Job Description

Job Title: Software Engineers / Data Processing Experts for X-ray Data Analysis

Job Summary: We are seeking highly skilled software engineers and data processing experts to join our team at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF). As a software engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining software tools for X-ray data analysis, working closely with our scientific teams to understand their needs and develop innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain software tools for X-ray data analysis using Python and scientific computing libraries.
  2. Collaborate with our scientific teams to understand their needs and develop innovative solutions.
  3. Work closely with our Data Automation Unit to ensure seamless integration with existing software systems.
  4. Develop graphical user interfaces using Python (notably PyQt) to facilitate user interaction.
  5. Contribute to the development of new tools and features to support the growing demand for X-ray data analysis.

Requirements:

  1. Higher university degree (Master or equivalent diploma offering 300 ECTS) in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Science or similar area.
  2. Extensive programming skills in Python and scientific computing libraries.
  3. Ability to adapt to complex experimental data analysis.
  4. Experience in the field of X-ray data processing in one of the relevant areas (spectroscopy, tomography, scattering, imaging) is a strong asset.
  5. Knowledge of graphical user interfaces development using Python (notably PyQt) is an asset.
  6. Strong background in natural sciences or mathematics is an asset.
  7. Curiosity and good communication skills are required to interact with scientists of different techniques and beamlines.
  8. Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF).
