Your Role:

  • As a Senior Engineer, you will dedicate a significant portion of your time to coding while also leading technical projects in collaboration with a Product Manager. Your primary objective will be to develop scalable solutions through informed technical decisions and to mentor your team.
  • Working within a squad, you will also engage in cross-functional topics such as SSO, SEO, and user sign-up processes.
  • Ensure high standards of code quality across your projects.
  • Manage technical debt, understanding the balance between immediate business needs and long-term technical health.

Your Mission:

  • Adhere to disciplined software engineering practices, including automated testing and code reviews.
  • Develop integrations with third-party software, including APIs and webhooks.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement new features for our products.
  • Thoroughly assess product feasibility and its technical implications.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential technical issues that could impact product launch or maintainability.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of programming experience in Ruby or another language such as Python or Java.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role.
  • Ability to evaluate the trade-offs of various engineering solutions, prioritizing practicality over idealism.
  • Strong understanding of architectural patterns.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Experience with backend systems in large-scale internet services.
  • Proven track record in designing and implementing complex, scalable software services.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with document-oriented databases like Elasticsearch.
  • Proficiency in additional programming languages such as Golang.
  • Contributions to open-source projects.

Recruitment Process:

  • Initial video call with our Tech Recruiter to discuss your career aspirations and answer any questions.
  • Discussion with an Engineering Manager regarding current technical challenges and team dynamics, including a live coding exercise.
  • Technical architecture review with two Senior Backend Engineers.
  • Final meeting with our VP of Engineering to discuss your long-term vision with Hivebrite.
