Associate Director of Fundraising Initiatives

Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Fundraising Initiatives plays a pivotal role in crafting and executing strategies aimed at enhancing financial contributions to Ohio Northern University, with a focus on the Northern Fund. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, goal-setting capabilities, strategic planning skills, and exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities. Responsibilities include recruiting, organizing, and motivating student workers and interns to secure unrestricted donations and boost participation in the annual fundraising campaign. Flexibility for evening and weekend work is essential. Additional duties encompass event coordination, direct mail campaigns, electronic solicitations, text outreach, reunion and homecoming activities, crowdfunding initiatives, and coordinating the Day of Giving alongside the Director of Fundraising Initiatives.
Responsibilities:
The Associate Director will collaborate closely with the Director of Fundraising Initiatives to oversee annual fundraising efforts at Ohio Northern University. Key responsibilities include the development and execution of strategies focused on donor acquisition, retention, and reactivation through various fundraising channels, including phone outreach, direct mail, email campaigns, crowdfunding, text messaging, digital advertising, and face-to-face solicitations.
- Design, implement, and assess a student worker/intern program aimed at donor retention.
- Recruit, train, and supervise student employees/interns.
- Manage the pledge reminder process, including texting campaigns, email solicitations, and donor stewardship.
- Provide interns with valuable learning experiences in fundraising, relationship management, and the significance of philanthropy.
- Lead digital engagement efforts, virtual programs, or in-person events, ensuring effective planning, execution, and evaluation. Examples include the Day of Giving, Campus Campaign, Reunion/Homecoming events, and the Annual Lehr Society Banquet.
- Develop and implement strategies for donor acquisition, stewardship, and retention, utilizing methods such as leadership annual giving, first-time donor outreach, faculty/staff giving campaigns, digital marketing, direct mail, email, social media, and text messaging.
- Maintain and update the University Advancement database, ensuring accurate constituent information and data management.
- Research and create programs to enhance student awareness of philanthropy, conducting informational sessions to educate students on the importance of giving and fostering a pipeline of future alumni donors.
- Manage and promote Crowdfunding program webpages and the associated request process.
- Oversee event and donation management software, including event registration and donation form creation.
- Assist in the planning, organization, marketing, and execution of Reunion/Homecoming events.
- Facilitate the 50th reunion giving program.
- Support the Day of Giving by reviewing materials, timelines, and event logistics.
- Interpret and apply various procedures, policies, and precedents, including managing inquiries from alumni and friends.
- Cultivate a professional network of peers for benchmarking and feedback on new initiatives.
- Maintain regular communication with constituents.
- Address and manage sensitive donor relations issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- One to three years of relevant fundraising experience or equivalent qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with database applications, particularly Blackbaud RENXT.
- Experience supervising student workers.
- Previous leadership experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite.
- Background in a higher education environment.
- Ability to translate technical data into formal reports.
- Additional duties as assigned.
