Job Opportunity: Embedded Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Embedded Systems Engineer to join our team at Inria, a leading research institute in digital science and technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing advanced platforms for experimenting with IoT systems, with a focus on software development for embedded systems.

About the Project

The position is part of the 5G-mMTC research project, which aims to deploy a 5G cellular network oriented towards "massive IoT", compatible with 4G technology. The use cases include the Smart-Grid and the connected bike, in partnership with EDF and the French Cycling Federation (FFC), respectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop system-level software and drivers to support communications through modern cellular modules (5G, 5G RedCap, eRedCap, etc.) to construct an end-to-end IoT solution for communication with private 5G networks.
  • Contribute to developing embedded AI research ideas, experimenting with, porting, and improving existing TinyML (embedded AI) software.
  • Develop components and integrate existing software to run an entire end-to-end IoT system for applications with modern chips (such as ARM Ethos NPU), modern protocols (such as LWM2M), and modern communications (such as private 5G networks with eRedCap).
  • Develop control software to remotely manage these embedded systems as they are integrated into the experimental platforms.
  • Develop software to benchmark and perform whole system optimization (embedded system + communication + edge server).
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-level C programming language and tools, and embedded systems. Good command of scientific English is also required.
