The Global Risk Management (GRM) department plays a pivotal role in delivering an independent assessment of the company's risks across all investment teams and entities, while also facilitating risk mitigation strategies.
Within the GRM framework, the Investment Risk Analysis team engages in a diverse array of activities that ensure all portfolios align with client objectives, internal standards, and regulatory mandates:
- Conduct independent evaluations and management of Investment Risks, including Market Risk, Credit and Counterparty Risk, Liquidity Risk, Performance Risk, and Pricing and Valuation Risk for AXA IM's investment operations in France.
- Lead or assist in project-based Investment Risk initiatives aimed at enhancing our global risk frameworks, such as Liquidity Risk and Counterparty Risk, as part of the broader Investment Risk Analysis and Standards team.
- Provide support to other GRM teams in their risk analysis efforts as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Investment Risk Analysts are at the forefront of risk identification and measurement, regularly interacting with business and risk committees. The primary responsibilities include overseeing Fixed Income and certain Alternative Credit sectors:
- Evaluate new investment strategies (funds/mandates, investment strategies, products/instruments) from the perspectives of market/credit risk, liquidity risk, and valuation risk.
- Establish investment guidelines and analyze remediation plans concerning potential breaches.
- Maintain a comprehensive awareness of portfolio risk positioning continuously, utilizing third-party risk systems/models (such as RiskMetrics) and internal systems (like the Liquidity risk system), through various risk measures and decompositions.
- Regularly assess the AXA IM risk control framework in terms of coverage and quality, from both AXA IM and regulatory viewpoints.
- Enhance AXA IM's risk frameworks, including coverage, indicators, stress testing, and risk reporting.
Provide regular updates to senior management regarding portfolio risk positioning and the effectiveness of the risk oversight process.
Your Profile:
Experience and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in risk or portfolio management roles within Investment Banking or Asset Management.
- Strong understanding of all asset classes, derivatives, and their risk modeling.
- Technical proficiency: capable of developing monitoring/reporting tools and enhancing existing ones (VBA, Python, Access/SQL). Familiarity with standard risk analysis tools is essential.
- Knowledge of Structured Credit, Riskmetrics, and Tableau is advantageous.
- Fluent in English.
- Ability to handle tasks of a certain technical or relational complexity independently.
- Demonstrates thoroughness and sound judgment to deliver quality analysis and outputs in a timely manner.
- Produces timely, actionable results that create value.
- Delivers clear summaries and presentations to management, emphasizing key points and control outcomes, and effectively communicates these elements in various meetings or committees.
- Proactively identifies potential challenges and escalates issues to management when necessary.
Possesses the ability and willingness to collaborate as part of a team, supporting colleagues and fostering relationships both within and outside the immediate team, and engaging with the global team.
