This position requires advanced technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to design, develop, and deploy software components for both on-premises and cloud environments. The focus is on creating reusable components for internal R&D teams to meet common needs such as authentication and observability. The Lead DevOps Engineer will engage proactively with diverse teams across the organization to facilitate the integration of libraries within their development environments and support essential capabilities for deployments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide documentation, examples, and technical support regarding the software components.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve and extend CI/CD tools and pipelines, streamlining the delivery and integration of software components.
  • Work independently with minimal oversight and may assume planning and mentoring responsibilities.
  • May oversee interns or co-op students but typically does not have direct reports.
  • Conduct complex development tasks that may necessitate extensive analysis and design.
  • Collaborate to ensure that team contributions exceed the sum of individual efforts.
  • Participate in scrum meetings, interacting constructively with colleagues and providing valuable feedback to support team objectives.
  • Propose and implement innovative solutions, encouraging creative thinking and sharing ideas.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5 years of industry experience; Master’s degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 1 year of experience.
  • Proficiency in DevOps tools used for building and testing large software systems with numerous dependencies in the C/C++ ecosystem on both Windows and Linux platforms (e.g., Bazel, CMake, bash scripts, conan, Git).
  • Experience in delivering pipelines in environments such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, Rust, C#, and Python, including interoperability between Rust and C/C++.
  • Familiarity with OAuth2, OIDC, KeyCloak, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana.
