Job Summary
:LRQA is seeking a highly skilled Design Appraisal Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for assessing the design, manufacture, and in-service aspects of engineering assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex assessments, provide specialist advice and solutions to internal and external clients, and conduct research and development work within agreed parameters, including budget constraints and contractual requirements.
- Produce deliverables within agreed parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility for reviewing and monitoring other employees' work as requested.
- Assess and recommend the time and value of work to be undertaken for external clients within an agreed fee and cost structure, and issue quotations up to an agreed limit and LRQA's standard terms and conditions.
- Discuss and present deliverables with internal and external clients at a senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
- Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
- Contribute to internal and external client management by acting as a point of contact to effectively manage client and LRQA relationships.
Requirements:
- Hold a relevant Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or equivalent within the relevant field of engineering. An additional higher tertiary degree, such as a Master's, is preferable.
- Have sufficient relevant previous working experience to demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the relevant specialist requirements, knowledge, and application. Typically, this will be around two years of relevant working experience.
- Meet technical competencies within the authorizations framework. Will be unsupervised for some authorizations and may be supervised for others.
- Have in-depth knowledge of design and construction of pressure equipment (installations) and the PED (//EU).
- Be experienced in using and/or creating P&ID's, equipment, and line lists.
- Preferably have experience in using Hazop studies and reports (IEC) and case determination and relief calculations of Pressure Safety Valves (API and/or EN).
- Preferably have experience in using Safety Instrumented Systems (IEC/IEC).
- Have proficiency in English and French language commensurate with the work (both written and verbal).
