At Subsea 7, we are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Expert to join our team. As a key member of our Subsea Structures & Piping Design Department, you will be responsible for the organization, coordination, and management of interfaces within your team, as well as providing technical expertise and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality engineering to meet commercial and technical needs.

As an expert in Subsea Structures & Piping Design, you will be a reference for your team and support knowledge management and technology initiatives related to the Structures & Piping Design Discipline. You will also contribute to creating a positive HSEQ culture within Subsea 7 and ensure familiarity with and adherence to local HSEQ codes and practices.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a package of structures within a project and being responsible for its planning, interfaces, and delivery in time and budget.
  • Taking responsibility for design activities of high complexity, including the production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to the Drawing Office, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, study reports, and various 3rd-party submissions.
  • Signing and issuing technical documentation as originator or checker, accepting personal responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Providing specialist skills, integrity, and knowledge in key areas of Subsea Structures & Piping Design engineering, including design codes, legislative requirements, and current good engineering practices.
  • Understanding clients' needs, identifying and addressing design parameters and challenges, proposing, developing, and implementing solutions.
  • Ensuring all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed.
  • Representing the Company in meetings/correspondence with Clients, Subcontractors, 3rd Parties, etc., in a technical perspective.

Requirements include:

  • Engineer Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the SURF business, Oil and Gas, Subsea equipment, or Offshore Renewables structural design-related activities (steel construction & mechanic).
  • Expertise in organizing and prioritizing own and others' workload, managing time and change control accordingly, and directing team members where constraints will affect a project in terms of program or budget.
  • Related experience at an equivalent level, including a period as a Senior Engineer, in Oil and Gas, Subsea equipment, or Offshore Renewables structural design-related activities.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in steel construction structural design in general, in Naval architecture, in material strength, and permanent structures design (ILTs, PLETs...).
  • Good knowledge of industry standards and design codes (AISC, API, ABS, BV, DNV, Eurocodes...).
  • Competency in design and analysis software packages (Abaqus, ANSYS, SACS, NSO/ISYMOST...).
  • Good knowledge of piping, connectors, valves, and forgings and associated design codes as well as materials (steels, composites, plastics, and polymers in general, ...), welding (processes, metallurgy, NDTs), and manufacturing & fabrication in general with significant field experience.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills – fluency in French and English are mandatory.
