About the Role:
The Senior Technical Coordinator of Events will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of events, conferences, and meetings held at UNESCO Headquarters and other locations. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:- Analyzing client requirements and identifying technical issues to propose solutions for event execution.
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients and service providers to ensure seamless event coordination.
- Coordinating and supervising technical teams responsible for event services and monitoring their work to address any issues that may arise.
- Training supernumerary personnel on UNESCO's procedures and systems.
- Ensuring the computer system (gMeets) is updated in a timely manner with technical requirements for cost estimates and accurate billing.
- Identifying necessary technical resources and creating platforms and links for virtual events.
- Assisting with logistical and material preparation for UNESCO's General Conference and side events.
- Working with in-house IT specialists to maintain and improve existing computer applications and develop new systems.
- Completed secondary, technical, or vocational school.
- Minimum eight (8) years of relevant experience in the management and planning of conferences/meetings/events.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with minimum supervision.
- Leading and empowering others.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to maintain positive contacts with production units, Secretariat of Governing Bodies, and colleagues in Programme Sectors.
- Ability to work in a multicultural team environment.
- Ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines within the framework of own responsibilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, particularly during conferences and peak periods.
- Good knowledge of Information Technology in the use of computerized Documents Management, knowledge of Excel, Access, and Word.
- Certified Meetings Professional (CMP), Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP), Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) or Certified Events Planning Specialist (CEPS), Digital Events Strategist (DES) or other relevant professional certification.
- Relevant work experience in the management of conferences/meetings/events in the United Nations system or in an international organization.
- Knowledge of gMEETS and INDICO IT applications.
UNESCO's salaries consist of a basic salary and other benefits which may include if applicable: 30 days annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, pension plan, etc.
The approximate annual starting salary for this post is 48 526 EUR.
