Job Title: Engineer in the Radio Frequency Group

As an engineer in the Radio Frequency (RF) group, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and upgrading of RF power amplifiers to ensure safe and reliable operation of the accelerator complex.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of RF power amplifiers.
  • Take an active part in current projects, including the replacement of 1.1 MW klystron transmitters with ten 110 kW solid-state amplifiers and the implementation of 1.4 GHz solid-state amplifiers for the new 4th harmonic RF system for cluster extension.
  • RF characterization and tuning of passive components using a vector network analyzer.
  • RF design, prototyping, characterization, and optimization of active RF components, in particular RF amplifier boards.
  • Actively participate in technical and scientific exchanges and collaborations at a global level within the accelerator community.
Requirements:
  • Higher university degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering with a specialization in Radio Frequency and/or Microwave technology, Master of equivalent (300 ECTS diploma).
  • Minimum 5 years' professional experience in high power RF engineering.

  • Ability to carry out measurements, diagnostics, and calibrations on complex low and high power RF equipment, using vector network analyzers, RF power meters, spectrum analyzers,...
  • Ability to draw up technical specifications, scientific reports, and make oral presentations in English (working language at the ESRF).
  • Sound teamwork capability.
Working Conditions:

Permanent position. Participation in shift work according to the ESRF regulations.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of relevant qualifications and professional experience.
