Cost Manager/Quantity Surveyor/Project Cost Controller

We are seeking experienced professionals to join our team as Cost Managers/Quantity Surveyors to work on key projects in the battery sector, specifically in the construction of battery manufacturing facilities. As the day-to-day interface with our clients, you will play a crucial role in driving projects to achieve an excellent outcome.
You will have worked on major construction projects in the battery, semi-conductors, chemicals, industrial, manufacturing, data centers, or pharma sectors. Your expertise will be in either pre-contract cost planning and estimating activities or post-contract commercial management. You will bring your practical knowledge and best practice experience, and be comfortable operating in a client-facing role, leading project teams, and managing difficult stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide accurate and detailed cost estimates, including producing and presenting the final cost plan.
- Estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels, ensuring that costs are accurately reflected.
- Assist in feasibility studies and write procurement reports to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Manage all aspects of procurement, including pre-qualification, bid analysis, and contractual document preparation.
- Participate in post-contract cost variances and change control processes, referring major changes to the line manager as necessary.
- Manage cost checks and carry out valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checking and valuation processes.
- Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients.
- Provide input into value engineering, negotiate and approve final accounts, and maintain liaison with clients and other consultants throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead the cost management team when necessary, ensuring the delivery of all accountabilities.
- Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the appropriate line manager.
- Identify improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the appropriate line manager.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience preparing cost estimates.
- Experience in construction, industrial, battery, semi-conductors, pharma, and/or manufacturing sectors, with knowledge of MEP and clean/dry rooms being an advantage.
- Consultant/contractor and engineering experience accepted.
- RICS or equivalent accreditation (or working towards) and membership of a Professional Institute preferred.
- Good technical experience in all cost management areas, including pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
- Good understanding of mechanical, process, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as civils, structural, and architectural aspects, as they relate to construction projects.
- Experience of leading cost management on medium or large-sized construction projects of medium to high complexity.
- Experience with advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as different procurement routes, value management, and value engineering.
- Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Great organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
- Hands-on attitude and willingness to spend time on the construction site as the project develops.
- French and English language skills.
