Research Project: Quantum Signal Analysis for Biomedical Imaging

The Inria Saclay-Île-de-France Research Centre is seeking a PhD student to work on a research project focused on quantum signal analysis for biomedical imaging. The project aims to study the mathematical properties of the semi-classical signal analysis (SCSA) method and its application to the identification of vulnerable carotid plaques using CT scans.

Project Overview

The SCSA method has been successfully applied in various biomedical applications, including arterial blood pressure waveform analysis and magnetic resonance spectroscopy denoising. However, its application to CT scans for vulnerable carotid plaque identification is a new and exciting area of research. The project will involve the development of a 2D-SCSA method for image representation and denoising, as well as the investigation of its use for feature extraction in CT scans.

Objectives
  • Study the mathematical properties of the SCSA method and its application to CT scans
  • Develop a 2D-SCSA method for image representation and denoising
  • Investigate the use of the 2D-SCSA for feature extraction in CT scans
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in signal/image processing and machine learning, with a focus on biomedical applications. Experience with quantum signal analysis and CT scans is not required but would be an asset.

Benefits
  • Subsidized meals
  • Partial reimbursement of public transport costs
  • Leave: 7 weeks of annual leave + 10 extra days off due to RTT (statutory reduction in working hours) + possibility of exceptional leave
  • Possibility of teleworking and flexible organization of working hours
  • Professional equipment available (videoconferencing, loan of computer equipment, etc.)
  • Social, cultural and sports events and activities
  • Access to vocational training
  • Social security coverage
Salary
