Lead Counsel for Intellectual Property Affairs

Position Overview:
As a Lead Counsel for Intellectual Property Affairs, you will be an integral part of a skilled and cooperative international team of legal experts within Schneider Electric. Your primary focus will be to enhance and execute the global strategy for Intellectual Property while managing various transactional responsibilities across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer expert legal counsel on Intellectual Property matters related to global mergers and acquisitions, including conducting thorough due diligence and facilitating post-transaction integration;
- Draft, assess, and negotiate intricate legal documents such as joint development agreements, framework agreements, and Intellectual Property licensing contracts;
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders from departments like M&A, R&D, marketing, HR, and supply chain to identify and address Intellectual Property risks;
- Work alongside the commercial legal team to ensure the effective negotiation and drafting of Intellectual Property clauses in commercial contracts;
- Prepare and negotiate settlement agreements in conjunction with the Global Intellectual Property Litigation team;
- Engage with external legal advisors as necessary to secure comprehensive legal support;
- Ensure adherence to applicable Intellectual Property laws and internal policies, including the development and implementation of training programs for employees;
- Remain informed about the latest legal and regulatory changes in the Intellectual Property sector and provide guidance to the organization accordingly;
- Assist various teams, including M&A, R&D, and marketing, with pre-litigation matters and other legal support as needed.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law from a recognized institution;
- Licensed attorney with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Intellectual Property law, ideally within an in-house setting or a reputable law firm;
- Proficient in both French and English, with strong oral and written communication skills;
- In-depth understanding of local and international Intellectual Property laws, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets;
- Proven experience in drafting and negotiating Intellectual Property agreements and providing comprehensive legal advice;
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional qualification as a representative in France;
- Experience in both private practice and multinational corporate environments;
- Demonstrated capability to develop and implement effective policies and standards;
- Experience in managing external legal counsel; knowledge of an additional language, such as German or Spanish, is advantageous.
