Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Global Trade Compliance Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing import/export compliance and operational activities, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations, and improving operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with Customs Law and regulations.
- Lead efforts to resolve day-to-day issues that result in border delays.
- Act as a primary point of contact with customs authorities to address requests for audits and inspections.
- Provide guidance to local business on import/export requirements.
- Manage trade data integrity and support monitoring of trade systems.
- Provide guidance on documentation, tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin determinations.
- Monitor trade compliance regulatory and legislative changes and alert internal parties on the impact to the business.
- Develop and drive solutions/strategies to issues faced by the business and implement necessary controls.
- Support import/export/duty management and Trusted Trader projects to drive efficiencies or cost savings.
- Provide training and knowledge sharing to improve business knowledge and operational performance and ensure compliance with importing/exporting regulations.
- Manage the capturing and analyzing of metrics associated with the trade operation for reporting to leadership.
- Partner with functional managers to ensure proper audit protocols are followed to maintain compliance with customs law and internal policies.
Qualifications:
Proficient in English, a third language such as Italian or German is preferred. University degree in a related field (e.g., international trade, supply chain, logistics, public management & policy, public revenue and treasury). Degree from a public customs academy or public finance. 3-5 years of experience working in a broker's agency, multinational company, or consulting firm, in customs authority. Excellent ability managing Excel, Outlook and communications software, SAP GTS, and other ERPs. Knowledge on Administration, Foreign Trade, Customs Law, Tariff Codes, etc. In-depth knowledge on import/export regulations and activities, etc. Knowledge and experience with French and other EU Customs authorities. Proactive, negotiation abilities, strong leadership and communication skills.
