Job Description

As a key member of the Technology and Industrial Performance Department, the Instrumentation and Control Regulation Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the activities of all flat glass manufacturing plants worldwide. This position requires a strong background in automation, controls, and regulation, as well as excellent technical leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage technical standards related to instrumentation and process control loops
  • Write and maintain standard specifications, data sheets, or P&IDs
  • Coordinate and ensure the evolution and improvements of technical standards based on the evolution of requirements
  • Support investment projects for float lines on instrumentation and control-regulation scope
  • Ensure that Saint-Gobain standards are applied correctly in projects by project teams and suppliers
  • Participate in defining project scope based on technical audits and plant requirements, in collaboration with project and plant operation teams
  • Participate in all technical purchasing phases (specification writing, offer analysis and technical alignment, reception and acceptance tests monitoring)
  • Monitor commissioning of various systems and carry out functional tests on-site before production startup
  • Participate in tuning of control loops and support production ramp-up
  • Coordinate resolution of snag points in projects and monitor performance of systems during production ramp-up
  • Consolidate project documentation and feedback and lessons learnt from project by adapting technical standards, adapting supplier portfolio or changing methodology
  • Provide support to running glass plants
  • Contribute to technical problem solving in case of difficulties related to instrumentation or control loops in plants
  • Conduct technical audits in factories
  • Contribute to purchasing processes and technical watch
  • Ensure technological watch on relevant equipment and measurement and regulation methods
  • Manage relation with certified instrumentation suppliers
  • Identify and validate potential new suppliers together with purchasing team
Requirements:
  • Generalist Engineer or Engineer in Electronics/Instrumentation/Controls with years of experience in Manufacturing Industry with field experience
  • Experience in international and multicultural environment
  • Fluent in spoken and written English mandatory. French highly appreciated. Spanish or German a plus
  • Knowledge in automation and controls/regulation
  • Good understanding of supplier management
  • Knowledge in ATEX regulation and associated instrumentation appreciated
  • Ability to work efficiently in multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work in multicultural environment
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously
  • Synthetic mindset with ability to work on details when needed
  • Ability to stand for DTI position with project teams
  • Autonomy
