Job Title: Knitwear Designer

Canada Goose Holdings Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Knitwear Designer to join our team. As a key member of our Design Team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality knitwear collections for Canada Goose Women's and Men's lines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Design Team to develop seasonal knitwear collections that meet the company's creative vision and business objectives.
  • Design and develop knitwear samples, working closely with external manufacturers and the Knitwear Product Development team in Toronto.
  • Participate in seasonal concept meetings, proposing inspirational research images, colors, and moods.
  • Research and develop seasonal yarns and swatches in line with the creative vision, submitted to the Creative Director's approval.
  • Work closely with Merchandising partners to ensure all designs support the business objectives.
  • Enter all data required into PLM and update as required for all styles as directed by the collection or project leader.
  • Research inspirations, new trends, and moodboards for men's and women's knitwear.
  • Develop and adopt fabrics and trims in collaboration with the Materials department.
  • Collaborate with the Design Team and Design Manager to create and publish the seasonal color palette and seasonal direction overview.
  • Support the Design Team in all fits and be the design voice in fittings on designated styles.
Requirements:
  • BA Honours Degree or above in Fashion Design.
  • Strong understanding of knit material.
  • 2-4 years working experience within a Fashion/Garment Design role or related position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.
  • General knowledge of patternmaking and critical product construction.
  • General knowledge of materials (fabrics and trims).
  • Excellent presentation skills of both designs and creative concepts.
  • CAD development skills for construction of garments and merchandised presentations.
  • Prior experience with Product Line Management (PLM) suggested.
  • Well-organized and proficient in time management.
  • General knowledge of line merchandising.
  • Able to research independently.
  • Has a critical eye on the market, runway, and current trends.
  • Brings newness to the design process through exploratory thinking and executing.
  • Demonstrates creative ability that exceeds market expectations.
