ROLE OVERVIEW:

Joining the Coty R&D Packaging team means becoming part of a center of expertise and a passionate community that fosters personal and professional growth.

As the Senior Principal for Sustainability & Packaging, you will be pivotal in crafting and executing our sustainability strategy for packaging, ensuring alignment with our corporate objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Serving as the primary contact for packaging sustainability within our organization.
  • Participating as a member of the sustainability strategy committee focused on packaging.
  • Actively engaging in the development of the sustainability roadmap across materials, categories, brands, and targets.
  • Contributing to the creation of sustainability tools (both external and internal) and assisting packaging categories in measuring, managing, and advancing their sustainability initiatives.
  • Representing Coty in various packaging and sustainability committees.
  • Providing ongoing training and education to our packaging department and stakeholders on regulatory and sustainability matters.
  • Collaborating with the regulatory department to review and interpret new sustainability regulations.
  • Assessing the impact of these regulations on Coty's product portfolio to understand implications for each packaging category.
  • Effectively communicating regulatory updates to internal stakeholders.

You will cultivate your team and enhance organizational capabilities, contributing to the overall strength of the Global Coty Packaging Development team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your responsibilities will encompass:

Gathering, summarizing, and clarifying all concepts related to packaging sustainability (including 4R principles, circular economy, GHG targets, new packaging laws and regulations, material bans, consumer information, etc.).

Contributing to Coty's sustainability footprint analysis with a focus on packaging.

Identifying necessary or missing packaging data for comprehensive analysis.

Representing Coty in various packaging and sustainability committees (such as SPICE, FEBEA, CITEO, EBS).

Determining the need for tools and systems (e.g., SPICE, Beauty that Lasts Index, SAP RD reporting tool, new data collection methods).

Establishing a Packaging Material policy and guidelines with achievable objectives and measurable KPIs.

Formulating a global packaging sustainability strategy with a detailed roadmap and action plan (including targets, KPIs, timelines, and execution plans).

Providing essential support to the Packaging team regarding packaging/material regulations, sustainability definitions (4Rs), and packaging claims.

Creating eco-design packaging guidelines.

Engaging in packaging sustainability solutions, innovation, and research.

Developing training materials for internal training on packaging sustainability.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive experience in packaging, sustainability, and cross-functional team leadership.

Ideally, a minimum of 7-10 years in the beauty and cosmetics sector, or in related fields such as pharmaceuticals, personal care, or food industries.

A proven track record of leading sustainability and packaging strategies from conception through execution.

Academic credentials: a master's degree in a relevant field (sustainability, packaging, chemistry, mechanical engineering, etc.).

Ability to synthesize large volumes of information and present clear summaries.

Demonstrated discipline in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a focus on priorities.

A willingness to thrive in an agile, entrepreneurial environment, adapting to and embracing change.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for identifying pragmatic solutions.

Exceptional interpersonal communication and presentation skills for articulating ideas, technical rationales, risks, issues, and recommendations effectively. Comfortable speaking to large audiences and high-level stakeholders.

Aptitude for working within a culturally diverse organization and willingness to travel as needed.

Professional fluency in English.
