Mission A surveyor in a classification society is essential for maintaining the safety, compliance, and quality of maritime vessels and structures. The primary duties focus on ensuring that ships adhere to international and classification society standards. Key Responsibilities- Technical Knowledge:
- Offer specialized technical guidance to clients, shipowners, and manufacturers regarding classification, design, construction, and maintenance.
- Keep updated with the latest industry technologies and innovations to apply advanced knowledge during surveys.
- Compliance with Regulations:
- Guarantee strict compliance with classification society rules, international regulations, and statutory requirements throughout surveys and inspections.
- Work with regulatory authorities to interpret and implement new regulations as they emerge.
- Troubleshooting:
- Serve as a problem-solver, addressing technical challenges that may occur during surveys or client interactions.
- Provide practical solutions to clients while ensuring adherence to classification standards.
- Quality Control:
- Establish quality assurance protocols in survey processes to maintain the highest levels of accuracy and reliability in inspection documentation.
- Engage in internal quality audits and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of surveying practices.

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Junior Surveyor or at least 5 years in engineering or survey roles within the marine industry or a related field.
• Proficiency in English and French relevant to classification, statutory certification, and related services.
• Ability to understand RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, along with the RINA Employee Safety Policy.
• Capability to interpret engineering plans and possess a foundational understanding of shipbuilding practices and operations.
• Competence in conducting new building surveys, including assessing the suitability of certified materials, ensuring compliance with rules and regulations, identifying deficiencies, and issuing necessary documentation.
• Ability to perform in-service surveys, ensuring compliance through inspections, identifying deficiencies, and managing repair work as required.
• Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.
• Familiarity with software programs related to job responsibilities.
• Understanding of technical interfaces necessary for collaborative project work.
